Episode 164: Radically Traditional Farming with Will Harris of White Oak Pastures 

With the 2024 Wise Traditions Conference coming, The Appropriate Omnivore host Aaron Zober welcomes another speaker for the conference. Today’s guest is Will Harris, a fourth generation cattleman running the farm White Oak Pastures in Blufton, GA. Will talks about his great grandfather starting the farm and how Will’s dad changed things when he took over. Will discusses the transitioning away from industrial agriculture and what it means to be regenerative. While White Oak Pastures has several certifications, Will explains how visiting the farm yourself is the greatest certification of all. Aaron and Will delve into many topics of regenerative agriculture, such as undergrazing and overgrazing, multispecies farming, and White Oak’s zero waste program. Other highlights of White Oak Pastures which Will tells the listeners about include its nonprofit wing Center for Agriculture Resilience, and how White Oak has help rebuild the community of Blufton, GA.
