The website The Eastsider LA reports that the property which was home to the long time Silver Lake hole-in-the wall Burrito King has been purchased by the owners of nearby pizzeria Tomato Pie. Owners Garret Policastrow and Freddy Suarez plan to open a Mexican restaurant called Mixta Comida Latina, which will use grass fed beef and other sustainable ingredients to make its tacos, burritos, and tortas.
A Mexican restaurant serving grass fed beef will be a nice addition to the LA sustainable meat scene dominated by hamburgers. Tomato Pie ranks as one of the best pizza-by-the-slice places in LA, so I can hardly wait to see what Policastrow and Suarez plan to do with both Mexican food and grass fed beef. They say the place should open in about two weeks.
